We are seeking a seasoned entertainment writer who can find just the right words to add narrative punch to short-form videos like trailers or recaps. If you have a demonstrable passion for entertainment, an innate sense for the mechanics of storytelling and the rhythms of plot, and an ability to write in concise, consumer-friendly language, then this may be the role for you.In a typical day, you'll collaborate extensively with the video team as you create and/or refine text-in-video assets for a dozen different movies or television shows. Once copy and video are combined, you'll consult with the video team to polish the text so that it is accurate, engaging and perfectly matched with the visual tone and pacing of the video. You may also be tapped for one-off video experiments where words and a keen editorial eye are required. You will flesh out the rest of your time by writing and editing text-only assets for the Netflix service.You must have a strong sense of timing and broad experience collaborating with video creators. Your writing is engaging, accessible, surprising and fresh. You must be a versatile writer, but also a skilled editor who knows how to shape others’ words to fit a text-in-video format. Ideally, this candidate has worked in an editing or assigning position and is able to project manage work from dozens of colleagues.This is a full-time, hourly-rate role located in our Hollywood office, reporting to the manager of Product Writing in Los Gatos.
