
Our Data Science and Engineering team focuses on improving how we work as well as our members’ experiences across streaming, games, and live experiences. Through dedicated data research, members of this team enhance critical elements of the Netflix experience, including personalization algorithms, content valuation, and streaming optimization. This group also works cross-functionally with business teams, engineering teams, and researchers from other teams to strengthen Netflix’s technical capabilities and infrastructure for big data, as well as to provide the analytical tools to help our company make important decisions that keep our global audience thrilled by the prospect of what’s next.
From watch data to focus groups, the Consumer Insights team seeks to deeply understand and anticipate the needs, preferences, and behaviors of Netflix members and non-members through a wide range of quantitative and qualitative research. Through data obtained from market research to platform analytics, team members provide strategic insights that enable Netflix to leverage emerging content trends among consumers and also uncover future opportunities. The team also gathers product feedback on the user experience and performs competitive analysis to ensure that we meet the expectations of members while solidifying our leadership in the industry. Their analysis is also critical for shaping product offerings, marketing campaigns, and customer engagement initiatives as we work to keep audiences across the globe on the edge of their seats!
