Netflix is the world's leading internet entertainment service with 125 million memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, documentaries and feature films across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can watch as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, on any internet-connected screen. Members can play, pause and resume watching, all without commercials or commitments.

A very important part of the Netflix service is the cloud based media transcoding infrastructure that generates the petabytes of streams and playback artifacts to support the growing content catalog and the device footprint. In short, anytime a subscriber in on the service, they are viewing images and streaming content produced in this media cloud. We run a very large scale, massively parallel and highly available compute farm in the Amazon elastic compute infrastructure powered by our purpose built software to serve the complex media processing needs of Netflix.

The opportunity here is to be a part of an infrastructure team building frameworks/libraries to support workflows, collaboration and messaging. The work would be to build out testing infrastructure and developer sandbox for new features that will be a part of our developer on-boarding program. You will become well versed in building scalable microservices in a public cloud environment and acquire expertise in Java, Spring, Grpc, TestNG/mocking and performance evaluation/tuning of services.

You will be successful in this role if you:

  • Are a quick learner and passionate about learning new technologies
  • Are keen on automated testing, code quality and engineering best practices and look to constantly improve your skills
  • Enjoy collaborating with engineers across functional teams and have excellent communication skills
  • Have 5+ years of experience with one object oriented language like Java, C++ or Ruby
