Nerds Systems Engineer

Be part of bringing entertainment joy to 125+ million members all over the world!  Netflix is looking for a Systems Engineer to join the Nerds Systems Management team in our Los Angeles office. This role will be primarily focused on supporting teams involved with our Netflix Originals.  Employee Technology at Netflix consists of Network/AV Engineering, Employee Applications, and Nerds (our IT group).  A Netflix Nerd is not only an expert in a technical field, but is also a passionate solver of any tech problems that a colleague encounters.  Nerds play a critical role providing amazing technical support to thousands of employees around the world, with a focus on enabling productivity.  

As a Nerds Systems Engineer at Netflix, you own and support the needs of our Employee Technology Environments and ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems and related procedures adhere to our organizational values.  You're highly technical and work directly with internal and external partners to ensure high reliability of our services as well as compliance with our company security policies.  You will help evolve and participate in technical research to enable continuing innovation.  We are looking for a team player who balances individual responsibilities, gives and welcomes feedback, and exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Active Directory (Domain controllers, GPO, health, etc.)
  • Manage Windows server infrastructure in AWS
  • Automate redundant processes
  • Google G-Suite administration
  • Manage Amazon Workspaces
  • Work with a team of systems engineers on critical projects
  • Scheduled on-call rotation
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards (Endpoint and Cloud)
  • Respond to tickets quickly and efficiently
  • Management / integration of various SaaS applications
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • A self-starter that shows initiative and takes action

Preferred Experience:

  • 3-5 years of Systems Administration
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands on experience managing Windows Server
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands on experience managing a G Suite environment 
  • Experience writing Google Apps Script, JavaScript, Python, Powershell, etc
  • Proficient in Windows, Mac, Chrome OS and Linux
  • Hands on experience in networking, routing and switching (physical and virtual)
  • Understanding of AWS infrastructure, instance deployment and administration
  • Experience supporting and integrating Cloud and SaaS Applications 
  • Understanding of REST API’s and how to consume them
  • Experience working in accordance to SOX and/or PCI compliance
  • Experience with VMware enterprise infrastructure
  • Microsoft Azure and Office 365 experience a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • SQL queries
  • DNS/IPAM administration
  • MDM management administration
