| Netflix is revolutionizing the way movie lovers discover new movies. Netflix uses technology to capture and present information about movies in an appealing and compelling way. Netflix is looking for a talented Software Engineer in Test who is interested in helping develop and test this technology and grow our ability to delight our customers. Movie selection is one of the things that differentiates Netflix from our competitors. At the heart of that selection process is the information we deliver to our customers about movies that might interest them. On the front end this information takes the form of “Box Art” graphics that visually identifies the movie as well as a crisp synopsis that describes the content of the film. On the backend is where things (always) get interesting. The descriptive information is much more granular and is the core that drives the technology that makes movie choosing so inviting, successful and so personal to Netflix customers. We call this information “Movie Metadata” and this is a major component of our growth strategy. This position is responsible for testing the tools that capture, manage and deliver the data that drives our Movie selection engine. Required Skills: • Demonstrated proficiency in some OO programming language. Java preferred. • Deep understanding of Relational Databases and SQL • Experience with jUnit , TestNG, Selenium or equivalent test automation frameworks • Extensive linux/unix background with scripting experience • Experience with rich clients such as Eclipse RCP and Adobe AIR • Experience with XML and XSD • Experience testing highly scalable, highly available enterprise server systems, e.g. Cluster or Cloud deployments • Expert in developing methods and means of efficient software testing Additional requirements: • Desires to work in a fast paced, cross functional environment • Excellent Communications • Experience with Test Driven Development • Ability to quantitatively assess software quality • Not bothered by being called a Movie Geek |
