| The Position: |
| As a key member of our Metadata Engineering team, you will be helping design and build applications, frameworks, and tools to help manage all aspects of movie data at Netflix. Our goal is to know our customers’ movie tastes well enough to create the perfect store, always presenting amazing titles just for them. You will be a core contributor to the development of metadata technologies responsible for creating the world’s best movie finding experience. We are looking for an experienced engineer with a background in designing, refining, and deploying user-friendly applications. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, independent, and intellectually curious individual who takes pride in coding quality software. RESPONSIBILITIES • Designing, developing and supporting rich-client software applications for use in managing movie data • Participating in regular design reviews, code reviews, and test case reviews • Co-designing the architecture for Netflix web services, applications, and tools for streamlining movie title management • Full software life-cycle ownership of key strategic business logic from inception through production • Conceiving, articulating and implementing projects in coordination with technical and non-technical coworkers for product enhancement and improvement QUALIFICATIONS • 8-10 years of hands-on software development experience • 4+ years of Java web application development experience • Experience with design of SQL database systems, query optimization, and design of efficient data models • Experience with Eclipse RCP, AIR, or equivalent rich-client application development • Experience designing and developing at both the Data and Presentation layer • Flexibility to shift priorities based on changing needs of the business • A Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, or equivalent engineering |
