| The Position: |
| We seek a hands on technical test engineering leader who will help us develop and execute on a test strategy that enables our streaming service to scale to millions of customers. It is a great time to be at Netflix; we currently have more than 10 million members and we are leveraging the experience and capabilities that allowed us to get big on DVDs to become a leader in streaming movies instantly to PCs, Macs, and Netflix-ready devices such as TVs, Blu-ray Disc players, and gaming consoles. (See our full list of partners at: http://www.netflix.com/NetflixReadyDevices) What you will do: - You will recruit and lead a talented team of test engineers who can meet the testing needs of all of our streaming server development. - You will develop, communicate and execute a test strategy that highly leverages automation. - You will proactively define and promote architecting for testability within the development process. - You will work with your developer peers to define and improve testing processes and infrastructure in order to effectively and efficiently test our backend infrastructure that supports these millions of streaming clients. - You will work very closely with the operations team. - You will help in revolutionizing the way people watch movies. Here are the skills we require: - You are a test leader who knows how to recruit, organize and lead highly technical test engineering team. - You are hands on and can give technical direction to the team. - You have built test automation and can implement it through the test organization. - You understand and can articulate capacity planning, performance, load, system testing methodologies. - You have experience working with NOC, system administrators and have demonstrated the ability to triage operational issues. - You embrace modern practices like agile and test-driven development, continuous integration, and the reality that software development is an iterative process and not merely implementation of a specification. - You can effectively communicate across all levels within the company. - You have a high degree of business acumen and can translate business goals, priorities into test infrastructure development and test execution. - You are comfortable running with fuzzy requirements, making good judgment calls, and dealing with smart risk taking. - You understand the importance of metrics and know how to measure them and apply them effectively.
